Whatever you choose … Whatever you choose to do with your hair is solely up to you – so should it be for Cathy. And you as a natural ‘do sporter should know that better than anyone.
The more black people choose to wear hairstyles that are unique to our culture the more mainstream and non-threatening they’ll become. So, while you may not think dreads are “appropriate” for an event at the White House, I say that there’s no place they belong more.
i know plenty of … i know plenty of people with dreads, my man wears them,but they are neat and clear and tastfully done. I myself wear a natural do. so my comment was not about fried and dyed, but rather proper hygiene…and appropriate appearance for a high profile media event.
why didnt that … why didnt that nappy head, Cathy, get her hair done before a visit to the White House to interact with the First Lady? Those dreads look a hot nasty mess!
Let’s not forget … Let’s not forget that she worked her butt off and made her own money. Before Michelle stepped down from her job to campaign for Barack, she was making more than $330,000 as a V.P. at a Chicago hospital to Barack’s $150,000 at the time. She was the bread winner. As President, he only makes $400,000, so if she were allowed to continue working, he would not be making much more money than her.
They always told me … They always told me growing up, if you hula hoop enough, perhaps you could be the first African American first lady, but damn– I was beat to it!
no one should be … no one should be disrespecting her like that! Shes a woman that every parent should be modeling their daughters after. Shes a role model for all women everywhere. Shes elegant, classy, educated AND down-to-earth. We’re lucky to have her here in America. And her physically beauty stands alone as well. She embodies a woman I look up to.
What baffles me is … What baffles me is like I said before noone talked about none of the other first ladies unattractive looks. . . and truthfully none has been attractive since Jackie Kennedy…withthe exception of Hillary, they have been old, fat and not so good looking.
What’s ever more … What’s ever more interesting is that no one can point out what is so ugly about her? That’s all it is, HATERATION. The ugly they see in Michelle is really the beauty they lack in themselves.

She seems girlish, coordinated, physically graceful and very laid back.
She also seems extremely intelligent (probably much more than Obama who is just above average), a bit introverted perhaps, meditative and thoughtful.
A very serious person.
