I bought a regular hula hoop (the kind with water in it) at the Sports Authority today and I’m having so much fun with it. I want to learn more ways to hoop besides just around my waist. What do you think of the Hoopnotica DVD’s? And do I need to buy their "special" hula hoops for it to work well?
Thanks!
Yes. I am a huge fan of hoopnotica. In my own opinion, I believe they have the best hooping for fitness dvd’s out there. Right now, they just have a beginner’s series but they are working on an intermediate series. Their dvd’s take each move and put them into chapters. You watch the chapter and then go work on the move with the information you’re given. You don’t watch and hoop at the same time. And if you’re still not sure on what to do on a certain move, you can just put the dvd back on and watch it again. At the end of each chapter, there is a troubleshooting segment where Keaton shows the errors that can happen and how to fix them. I recommend hoopnotica to everyone because Rayna (the founder and instructor on the dvd’s) makes it easy to understand and..well she just really knows how to word things in a way that makes you say "aahh…I get it!". I would definitely say to buy the dvd’s. As for their hoops, I have never bought one because I make my own hoops although I would like to buy one of their travel hoops or twist hoops. I belong to the hoopnotica forum on their website and a lot of the people on there have the hoopnotica hoops and they really seem to enjoy them. I would not recommend using a regular hula hoop for this because they tend to carry unnecessary weight that make certain moves a bit harder. Hoopnotica hoops do have more weight than a kid’s toy hoop but that is because of what they are made of, their size and the tape. They weigh about 1.5 pounds, a good weight for hoopdance. So all in all, I would say yes. The hoopnotica dvd’s are great. And you should buy a hoop (or even make one yourself!) Also, I got a team hooper ID. If you use my ID code you get five dollars off of your purchase. It only works once though but hey it does some good! My ID number is SL0926. I hope this helped!
