I started working out at Curves and I just learned how to hula hoop, so I wanted to try this weighted hula hoop. Have you tried it? and Does it work? thanks
No I haven’t. The hoop is really just another form of exercise that may help people who enjoy it and find it fun, as finding exercise fun is imperative to any successful program. So try it and see if you like it. If you do and find it works then great but if not then try something else. It probably wouldn’t suit me personally but it should work if you use it properly.
The thing to remember is that in order for any exercise to work (I’m assuming weight loss and fitness are the goal here as a weighted hoop is not really a strength-training device) then you need to have an elevated heart rate for an extended period of time.
Bearing this in mind, don’t be tempted to pick the heaviest hoops. Pick one that allows you to exercise with suitable effort for a desired time. You should feel as if you’ve worked hard afterwards but you shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort from bruising or anything because the hoop is too heavy and it shouldn’t be so heavy that you cannot use it comfortably.

So I know that massaging cellulite helps break it down but what about a weighted hula hoop vs that post baby tummy? Would that have a similar effect? Has anyone had any experience with this or long term weighted hula hooping in general?
Skin brushing (for example:
http://healingtools.tripod.com/skinbrush.html or
http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/healingtechniques/Dry_Brushing_Technique.htm ) is probably closer to what you want in terms of "massaging cellulite".
Hula hooping is a blast but do NOT use the weighted ones as they can do more damage on the back and organs than you initially feel. Also, it doesn’t feel good as it bangs against the muscles and/or hip bones.
Try making or buying some adult hoops. This place will have some links to making your own: http://www.hooping.org/archives/000359.html
and this place has some nice instructional videos and some decent premade hoops if you don’t want to make your own: http://www.hoopnotica.com/ .
Also, you can’t do things like this with a weighted hoop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi9cvsiZZG0 (one of my fav hoop dancing videos!!)
Having to skip out on hula hooping is one of the saddest parts of my back issues (not caused by hooping).

My mom bought a weighted hula hoop, it is 4 lbs. I read that u are able to lose inches in waist and get a flatter tummy. I wanted to lose like maybe an inch or two (im not fat i just want to be a little smaller) but when i use the hula hoop It starts to hurt me and I can’t breath well because it feels like its crushing my insides, same with my mom lol. so now we are gettin another hula hoop weighted and this one will be 2 lbs. I think this one will be alot easier, I will be able to last longer with it and have more fun doing it. do you think it will take longer tho for me to lose those inches in my waist? with the 4 lbs hoop i could barely reach a minute because it was painful, so how long can i lose those inches?
anything that accelerates the heart rate and requires movement will burn calories.
Have any of you ever used a weighted hula hoop to lose belly fat? i’ve read mixed reviews, some say it is wonderful, some say they bruise and can’t stand it. What’s your take on it ?
nope but ive heard that its great for losing weight if u do it for 30 mins at least. Actually i am planning to put hula hoop in my routine. Try to do sit ups and crunches, their good exercise. and jumping rope will help you too cuz it’s a full body exercise. good luck =)

Went a bit crazy hula hooping in the summer but only have a standard kids hula hoop from ASDA. Got the hang of it pretty quickly and soon found I was addicted lol.
I want to get back into it but was just wondering which is the best weighted hula hoop to get? Have been looking at the 3G anion level 2 with massage balls?!
What do you think?
Many Thanks
It is possible to lose weight fast but you should be realistic and take on board that if you lose weight rapidly then you will without doubt put it all back on again just as rapidly. The sole thing that clearly worked for me was wu-yi tea, it can be seen in the resource box underneath, they have a limited number of free trials left, it was highlighted in Fox News and USA Today. I melted away 20 pounds, it clearly does produce results!
Hula hooping can best be improved through simple repetition and practice, which often means traveling with a hula hoop. Learn about the hula hoop as a great dancing tool with help from a hula hoop performer and instructor in this free video on hula hooping.
