I just bought a hula hoop, but unfortunately, i dont know how to use it, and pepople that i live with dont know how to use it either. Are there techniques in using the hula hoop? Coz no matter how hard i shake or whirl my hips and my body, the hoop keeps falling down. Hehehe. Thanks for answering
now im not the best in the world but i can have it up on my hips for about a minute. heres what i do.
1.) put the hula hoop above your hips and make sure its placed level ***with your back touching the hoop***
2.)put both hands on it and using your arms not your body swing it to your left and then right and letgo
3.) put your hans in front of you andand move your body/hips in a circular moition
i hope this works! it took me a while to figure out what way "my way" was. everybodys is different but this might help get yours started
heard it is great to use when working out. Also, how late is too late to snack. I usually have an healthy snack before bed of apples and grapes with activa cheese and at times pepperoni slices.
Thanks for your answers and help with this.
since the hoop can be used all over the body, it has many many uses. it can be used to develop balance, agility, strength, reflexes, and so on, on pretty much all the muscles. Also I’ve heard that (especially when you’re hooping on your stomach) it’s good for settling down internal anything, and great for straightening your spine.
This is a routine I threw together in little notice for the AYCO educators conference. I hope you enjoy! Im 16 years old living in Denver Colorado.

I bought a hula hoop last night thinking it would be a good workout?
I <3 to hula and can do it for hours!
Is it a good workout?
It’s a good jumping point, but I’d move on to something more rigerous for a real exercise.
Within a week, if i hula about an hr in the morning, an hr in the afternoon , an hr in the night.
Also i’m going to be running to. for about 30 mintues.
By the way i’m 16 and 5′1. And i weigh 118. 34-35-35 is my measurments…
Sorry, but this does depend on how fast you hoop, and on what body part. and on other factors such as diet.
If you’re new to hooping though, I really would not recommend hooping for that long at first. start with fifteen minutes a day, and work your way up over a month or so. you do that, and you’ll be able to lose weight and keep it off.
If you keep trying for three hours, one of two things is likely to happen:
You’ll get tired because you tried for more than you were ready for,
Or you’ll make your self really, really sick.
Well I heard hula hooping is a great way to lose belly fat and tone it and lose your love handles is that true? I plan on doing that and cardio and dieting better. Also where can you buy a ACU hula hoop can you buy it at walmart or retail stores like that. I’m 160lbs and i’m a size 17 and I wanna go back to bein a size 9 so I wanna go back to 125lb i’m 14
You can probably buy a hula hoop anywhere!
And yes, hula hooping does both. It can burn up to 100 calories every 10 minutes!
Try buying a weighted exercise hoop for an even better workout: http://www.sports-hoop.com/
It is important to incorporate cardio and fitness, too.

I bought a regular hula hoop (the kind with water in it) at the Sports Authority today and I’m having so much fun with it. I want to learn more ways to hoop besides just around my waist. What do you think of the Hoopnotica DVD’s? And do I need to buy their "special" hula hoops for it to work well?
Thanks!
Yes. I am a huge fan of hoopnotica. In my own opinion, I believe they have the best hooping for fitness dvd’s out there. Right now, they just have a beginner’s series but they are working on an intermediate series. Their dvd’s take each move and put them into chapters. You watch the chapter and then go work on the move with the information you’re given. You don’t watch and hoop at the same time. And if you’re still not sure on what to do on a certain move, you can just put the dvd back on and watch it again. At the end of each chapter, there is a troubleshooting segment where Keaton shows the errors that can happen and how to fix them. I recommend hoopnotica to everyone because Rayna (the founder and instructor on the dvd’s) makes it easy to understand and..well she just really knows how to word things in a way that makes you say "aahh…I get it!". I would definitely say to buy the dvd’s. As for their hoops, I have never bought one because I make my own hoops although I would like to buy one of their travel hoops or twist hoops. I belong to the hoopnotica forum on their website and a lot of the people on there have the hoopnotica hoops and they really seem to enjoy them. I would not recommend using a regular hula hoop for this because they tend to carry unnecessary weight that make certain moves a bit harder. Hoopnotica hoops do have more weight than a kid’s toy hoop but that is because of what they are made of, their size and the tape. They weigh about 1.5 pounds, a good weight for hoopdance. So all in all, I would say yes. The hoopnotica dvd’s are great. And you should buy a hoop (or even make one yourself!) Also, I got a team hooper ID. If you use my ID code you get five dollars off of your purchase. It only works once though but hey it does some good! My ID number is SL0926. I hope this helped!

I bought a hula hoop just 1 day ago and my mom said I could loose weight. So im trying to seek the truth. I can do it really good so yeah.
my sides hurt also
My sides hurt ALOT. I might get bruses
Yeah, any form of exercise can help you lose weight.
Edit: It’s normal for your sides to hurt or even bruise when you start out using hula hoops (especially the heavier ones). The bruises should be gone within a week. Even if it hurts now, your body will get used to it. Good luck ^^
I bought a hula hoop and now my 8 year old is better at it than I am. I need tips on how to beat her at it! Any ideas?
haha. well if you wanna keep ur kids moral up u should let them win. but anyways..
when i learned i figured out that its best not to move your hips to much. i also learned using something called a water hoop. theyre great! they practically stay up on their own (they have water in them instead of sand). it helps you learn the movements u need to keep the hoop up, but its also way easier than regular hoops.
hope it helps!!
